La Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos des 60 Ouvrées is an exceptional red wine produced from 100% Pinot Noir on clay-limestone terroir located in a monopole of the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or, characterized by a natural and precise aging process that reveals finesse, power, and elegance.

Terroir and vineyard
This wine comes from a clos located southeast of the village of Volnay, on the border with Meursault, on an area of 2.39 hectares surrounded by a dry stone wall, classified as a Premier Cru monopole in the Clos des 60 Ouvrées climate in the Caillerets sector, renowned for its great quality.

The soil combines clay and limestone, typical of the Côte de Beaune, bringing minerality and balance to the wine.

The vines are between 30 and 60 years old, cultivated using methods close to biodynamics, with the most natural cultivation possible.

Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir, managed with a concern for precision and low intervention in the vineyard as well as in the cellar.

Vinification and aging
Hand harvesting, rigorous grape sorting, complete destemming.
Initial cold maceration for several days, then fermentation at controlled temperature, with a maceration period that can last up to 21 days depending on the vintage.

Extended aging of 15 to 18 months in oak barrels, about one-third of which are new barriques, on the lees, with minimal intervention to preserve the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.

Organoleptic characteristics
Appearance: bright ruby, sometimes garnet depending on the evolution.
Nose: complex and refined, blending aromas of fresh red fruits (cherry, raspberry), floral notes (violet), and spices with a light, delicate woodiness. With aging, this bouquet evolves towards scents of cooked fruits, sweet spices, and a mineral touch.
Palate: elegant, medium-bodied, both full and powerful, with silky but present tannins, offering good structure and a long, refined, mineral, and balanced finish. The wine develops a beautiful aging potential and gains complexity after a few years in the cellar.

Tasting recommendations
Ideal serving temperature: 16 to 18 °C.
Let breathe for one hour before tasting.
Food pairings: roasted poultry, game birds, couscous, tajines, white meats, as well as aged cheeses with a strong character.

Average score around 91-94/100 according to specialized sources.
This wine is a notable reference in the Volnay Premier Cru appellation, appreciated by enthusiasts for its balance between finesse and complexity, ideal for medium to long-term aging.
