The Château Haut Brion Rouge 2014 is a prestigious Bordeaux wine, from a vintage marked by a difficult summer but saved by an exceptional "Indian summer", offering an elegant, powerful and well-structured wine with aromas of black fruits and pyreumatic notes.

Climate and Vintage

The year 2014 at Château Haut Brion saw contrasting weather: a favorable start to the season with a beautiful spring, followed by a difficult summer with a slowdown in the ripening of the grapes. However, September offered dry, very sunny weather and cool nights, allowing the grapes to reach perfect maturity at the time of the harvest, carried out between September 11 and October 10
Haut-Brion.

Blend and Grape Varieties

The blend of the Château Haut Brion Rouge 2014 is composed of:
50% Merlot
39% Cabernet Sauvignon
11% Cabernet Franc
This blend is aged in barrels, 70% of which are new, for about 18 to 22 months

Vinification and Aging

The harvest is manual with selected sorting. Vinification takes place in 225 hl temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with precise temperature control. Aging is carried out in new oak barrels at 70-80%, for 18 to 22 months. Fining is done with fresh egg whites to refine the wine lenseignedubordeaux.fr.

Tasting Notes

The wine presents a delicate and complex nose, marked by aromas of black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, enhanced by pyreumatic notes (smoke, grilled). On the palate, it reveals a generous tannic structure, fine and well-polished tannins, offering power, elegance and length on the finish. We also perceive subtle touches of tobacco, menthol, as well as a tangy freshness with nuances of marmalade and blood orange. This wine is balanced, tense, with an estimated aging potential between 2021 and 2050.

Food and Wine Pairing TipsThis complex and structured wine perfectly accompanies refined dishes such as red meats in sauce, elaborate stews, but also game. Its power and elegance also allow it to enhance rich and spicy dishes.
