Armagnac VSOP Liqueur

Armagnac is the oldest French eau-de-vie to benefit from a controlled designation of origin. Unlike cognac, it is distilled only once in a continuous process, then aged in oak barrels for 2 to 20 years, depending on the blend.

The Baron Gaston Legrand estate, owned by the Lhéraud family, specialises in producing and ageing vintage armagnacs, some dating back as far as 1802.

When an armagnac is made from a blend, the age stated is that of the youngest eau-de-vie. A VSOP, for example, must contain eaux-de-vie aged for at least 4 years, although houses often use older spirits to provide a richer aromatic range.
